What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Coordinator position at Hunkapi Programs Inc?
The Volunteer Coordinator will create, develop, and oversee all volunteer experiences at Hunkapi Farms including recruitment, onboarding, training, further education, recognition, and specialty projects. This position brings with them a positivity and vigor to increase community relationships and engagement in the farm in a way that increases volunteerism, donations, and involvement in the Hunkapi community. This role lives and breathes the values of Gratitude, Fairness, Authenticity, Love, and Fun and inspires others who volunteer or visit the farm to want to be a part of the community and culture of Hunkapi.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure volunteer applications submitted to the program are completed and processed in a timely manner.
- Manages the volunteer population through the Bloomerang platform.
- Communicates with applicants regarding orientation, further education, and training opportunities and designs recognition programs for the volunteers.
- Schedules and executes orientations in accordance with company practices from Farm Frenzy to Advanced Educational Training Opportunities.
- Communicates with applicants on next steps to becoming a volunteer at Hunkapi.
- Creates a schedule for volunteers.
- Ensures that there is volunteer support for necessary shifts.
- Communicates safety standards and ensures safety practices are being always implemented.
- Works to ensure retention of volunteers by creating meaningful, enriching volunteer work.
- Conducts farm tours with assistance of other volunteers.
- Builds and maintains strong working relationships with all volunteers to include but not limited to, individuals, corporate volunteer teams and event committee volunteers.
- Insures a positive and constructive experience for all who volunteer time at Hunkapi.
- Finds opportunities to conduct community outreach for the purpose of engaging with existing and potential volunteers.
- Participates in the execution of special events including recruitment of committees, sitting on the committees, oversight of “special event” volunteers and execution of the event.

- Ability and willingness to learn and teach horse care/management skills.
