As the Central Volunteer Onboarding Coordinator, you are a vital part of the Team, responsible for carrying on the Vision, Mission and Values of SBC. In this role, you will report to the Central Director of Church Engagement and are responsible for providing leadership and oversight in onboarding (and maintaining compliance) the large volume of current volunteers at SBC.
Your Essential Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:
- Champion the value of serving within SBC and actively pursue potential volunteers via the website, email, text, in-person interactions, referrals, and phone calls.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for potential volunteers, initiating the onboarding process and providing necessary forms and documentation.
- Process and track all onboarding documents within the ROCK database, ensuring compliance with all safety and risk management requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date volunteer records, including renewals of background checks, membership status, and junior volunteer transitions upon turning 18.
- Provide real-time compliance tracking for all serving teams and conduct quarterly audits to ensure safety standards are met.
- Provide central orientation, onboarding, and training for ministry administrators.
- Maintain and revise all volunteer onboarding documents and ministry-specific volunteer booklets as needed.
- Champion the use of the ROCK database as the primary tool for onboarding and volunteer management.
- Provide quarterly Serving Team reports to ministry leaders.

Education and/or experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3 years of experience with Connections and Volunteers in church setting
In this position you will be onsite Monday-Thursday and telecommute Friday.
Church Membership is required for most paid positions.
