We’re on the lookout for bright minds to join our summer internship program and embark on a journey of growth, learning, and hands-on experience! An internship with Hunter Industries complements university coursework, provides first-hand experience of working in the real world, and the opportunity to develop relevant skills and knowledge for career readiness.
The Experience
As a Mechanical Engineer Intern in Product Development, you will assist on a current project (ARC 180/270) and will be mentored on project management, design of parts for injection molding, trouble-shooting performance issues, methods of testing and compiling of data, and the art of prototyping (types of prototypes and selection of methods). The ARC 180/270 project is currently in Phase 3 and you will assist in developing final documentation, minor part design, and verification. This will include transitioning past Gate 4 to the final stages of Product Launch. All while developing a knowledge base for real-world engineering.
What You’ll Learn
You will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience with CAD software, technical documentation, injection mold tooling and processing, polymer materials, manufacturing and quality process controls, and identifying and solving open-ended product design problems. You will learn about engineering considerations that must be made during the product design process, including material selection, statistical process control concepts, reliability testing, and documentation and reporting. You will collaborate with a broad range of departments and personnel to broaden your knowledge of mechanical engineering work in a design and manufacturing setting. You will also receive hands-on training and practice opportunities to develop CAD skills, technical documentation, reliability test specification, and data reporting. Additionally, you will have ongoing opportunities to shadow experienced engineers in various meetings with Product Reliability, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, and Product Management.

Visual acuity sufficient to use a computer and to read and complete written documents.
Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals by telephone and in person.
Ability to bend, lift and carry books, files and office supplies and other items weighing up to 30 pounds.
