WAREHOUSE LEAD
Summary/Objective
Supports production, fabrication and customer order fulfillment activities at a multi-shift facility by and through the development and delivery of processes governing the warehouse operations. Manage warehouse personnel and provide positive leadership to maintain team oriented environment and high level performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Personnel Management:
Manage personnel responsible for Warehouse Operations. Responsible in assuring warehouse safety and OSHA requirements are adhered and followed by all employees.
Promotes a team environment and assures the HD value system is maintained by all employees.
Manages team performance to meet/exceed IPO goals as established each year (ie. Inventory Accuracy, Perfect Order Index, Customer Service, Quality, etc…)
Conducts annual performance appraisals of members of the group. Provides feedback on individual work performance. Utilizes various coaching and mentoring techniques to motivate group members.
Project Management:
Leads project teams supporting operational changes and warehouse improvements. Responsible for preparing and leading warehousing teams in yearly audits of ISO and CTPAT audits.
Chairs regular meetings to assure projects are on schedule. Documents and communicates regularly the status of projects to management and team members.
SAP Background:
Responsible for SAP warehouse system training to employees. Responsibilities include, data mining, master data recommendations, managing warehouse transactions, SAP report management, and downloading information from SAP to excel.
Maintain Super User status in support of Warehouse Operations.
Warehousing Operations:
Manage warehousing operations and processes for Incoming Goods, Receiving, Storing, Picking, Shipping and Order Processing of both raw and finished goods to both internal and external customers.
Lead operations and teams to support continuous improvement initiatives as presented by upper management throughout the year.
Facilitates the physical stocking of inventory according to established procedures.
Facilitates the pulling of inventory for customer and internal orders according to established procedures.
Ensures that all inventory related transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner.
Oversees the coordination and implementation of corrective actions among the participating departments.
Supply Logistic Best Practices:
Assists management in the deployment of industry Best practices such as Warehouse managed inventories, One Touch Receiving, Supplier Performance, Bar Coding, System based processing of orders and storage.
QUALIFICATIONS AND KSA’S FOR EMPLOYMENT
Solid knowledge of the concepts, business principles and practices of physical distribution, inventory control and warehousing management as it applies to warehousing, production/ fabrication applications, functionality and constraints.
Solid knowledge and proven success of various coaching, developmental, motivational, interactive management techniques effectively leading a team environment that communicates effectively, forms positive relationships internally and externally. Exhibits leadership ability. Completes performance evaluations, creates and maintains level certification program, creates and maintains training matrix and ensures that the corrective action process is effective in driving expectations.
Solid knowledge in taking prompt and proper action within authorized scope meeting the cost effectiveness, Quality control, performance standards, deadlines, goals and directives of the department through a proactive approach to the business. Utilizes a root cause analysis approach to problem solving and takes appropriate action up to including the FOE team concept.
Solid knowledge of computer software to include SAP, Word, Excel and Access.
Solid knowledge of computerized materials and inventory systems, MRP.
Solid knowledge of all ISO / Non ISO procedures and processes associated with shipping within specific areas.
Solid project management ability.
Skill in developing and maintaining effective work relationships with representatives of other departments and suppliers.
Ability to communicate both in written and verbal form.
Ability to perform work activities in a self-directed manner.
Ability to respond to requests and inquiries for information in a timely fashion.
Acceptable Training and Experience includes a Bachelors degree in materials/warehouse management or logistics or three to five years experience within a multi-task, high volume manufacturing work environment with four to five years in directly supervising and managing hourly and non-exempt employees. Training in or exposure to the principles of JIT, APICS, Conway Principles, and Project Management is highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Annual base salary range: $90,000 - $101,000
- Bonus target range: 15-25%
