SUMMARY
The primary function of the New and Used Sales Manager is the supervision of the day to day operation of the Truck Sales Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Forecast goals and objectives for sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all new and used vehicle sales employees.
- Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the new and used vehicle sales department.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect new and used vehicle sales.
- Directs and schedules the activities of all department employees, ensuring proper staffing at all times.
- Assists individual salespeople in setting aggressive yet realistic monthly goals and objectives and provides them with the support to meet these goals.
- Ensure proper follow up of all potential buyers by developing, implementing, monitoring, and prospecting a sales control system. Utilize Hunter’s Customer Management System.
- Maintain teamwork in a customer-focused sales environment throughout the sales, delivery, and follow-up process.
- Provide effective communication throughout the new and used vehicle department as well as interdepartmentally.
- Ensure that vehicle salespeople understand and follow dealership policies and procedures.
- Provide proper product and training resources for salespeople on a regular and continuous basis.
- Oversee the efforts of the vehicle salespeople to enhance the image and customer satisfaction ratings of the dealership.
- Work with salespeople on programs that will increase the new and used truck gross and F&I penetration.
- Help salespeople close deals.
- Establishes and maintains standards for the delivery of vehicles to customers.
- Processes salesperson commission sheets on monthly basis and maintain proper records.
- Recommends to the general manager the new truck inventory to be carried by color, model, and equipment based on a variety of customer and market conditions.
- Assist the used vehicle department with trade appraisals as needed.
- Direct the merchandising and advertising efforts for the new and used vehicle department.
- Assist in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.
- Attend manager’s meetings as requested.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Ensure all sales personnel make a minimum of 40 in person sales contacts monthly and enter results into HCMS.
- Adhere to and promote all existing health and safety policies in the workplace to reinforce the Hunter culture of a safe work environment
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention as directed
- Must be able to drive across county and state lines
- Inspect facilities, operations, equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions and adherence to the law
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 6-12 employees in the New Truck Sales Personnel. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
State Sales License
Valid Driver’s License required; must meet company insurability standards
Commercial Driver’s License required or able to obtain within first six months; must meet company insurability standards
