Position Summary:
As a New & Used Truck Salesperson, your primary role is to meet established sales goals for new and used trucks. You will sell to existing customers while actively seeking out new business. Success in this role relies on building strong customer relationships and delivering outstanding customer service.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-4 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company insurability standards
- State Sales License (can be obtained upon hire)
- State Vehicle Inspector Certification required
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required, or must obtain within 6 months of hire
Essential Duties:
- Prepare and spec sold orders for Peterbilt trucks
- Identify pricing discounts and special rebate allowances
- Assist customers in selecting trucks by understanding their needs and offering solutions
- Explain product performance and benefits to prospects
- Offer test-drives to all prospects, following dealership procedures
- Exhibit a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction
- Utilize sales control and follow-up systems
- Stay current on federal, state, and local laws affecting retail truck sales
- Attend product and sales training courses
- Ensure complete sales orders and process paperwork in line with dealership policies
- Prepare trucks for delivery and provide detailed operational instructions to customers
- Maintain relationships with existing customers and prospect for new ones
- Perform a minimum of 40 in-person sales contacts monthly
- Ensure post-sale follow-up on customer inquiries, paperwork, and service needs
- Introduce customers to parts and service department personnel for ongoing support
- Maintain and utilize Hunter Customer Management Systems
- Conduct pre-sale and post-sale inspections on trucks
- Follow up on “we-owes” and special customer requests
- Drive across county and state lines as needed for sales
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times
- Adhere to all company policies and safety guidelines
Physical Demands:
- Drive across county and state lines
- Lift and move up to 15 pounds occasionally
