What We’re Looking For:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a parts counter or similar role is a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company insurability standards.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications preferred.
- Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist Certification preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Parts Counterperson, you’ll be responsible for delivering top-tier service to all customers, both retail and shop-based. Your duties will include:
Customer Service:
- Assist all customers in selecting the required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Ensure customers are informed about companion parts, specials, and product offerings.
- Answer phone calls, provide price quotes, and offer information on products and services.
Order Fulfillment:
- Pull and fill orders from stock, ensuring accuracy.
- Notify parts manager about out-of-stock items or any urgent shop material needs.
- Follow up with special orders and back-ordered parts to keep customers informed.
Sales & Payments:
- Ensure internal requests for parts are billed on service repair orders.
- Process payments from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
- Issue credits for parts returns while verifying pricing and purchase information.
Inventory & Organization:
- Keep records of repair orders, invoices, and special orders.
- Monitor open orders for pickup and ensure parts are restocked or returned if not picked up.
- Maintain a clean and organized counter area and office spaces, including computer terminals.
Training & Development:
- Participate in training programs to stay current on new products and updates.
- Support the lost sales tracking program to ensure customer needs are met.
