Program Director
SUMMARY: Program Director provides leadership and advances the mission of Huntingdon House through the supervision and oversight of direct service staff and collaborates with the Executive Director to sustain, promote, and grow programs and services. The Program Director assists with managing the day-to-day operations and acts as proxy for the Executive Director as needed in their absence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide relational supervision to shelter and legal advocates as follows:
- Conduct supervision meetings, both individual and group meetings, with the legal advocate and shelter advocates.
- Ensure that direct services occur within a trauma informed context.
- Ensure that records are appropriate with respect to best practice and funder requirements.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director in annual evaluation of legal advocate and shelter staff.
- Provide direct services.
- Perform hotline weekend duties on a rotation basis
- Assist with back-up bi-weekly with the executive director
- Determine, design, and recommend to the Executive Director service models, process and protocol to ensure survivor centered direct services/outreach activities within a trauma informed context.
- Participate with ED and other leadership to develop recommendations for process and protocol to actionable applications.
- Provide staff development/training for the day-to-day implementation of process and protocol
- Monitor service recipient complaints and evaluations regarding services.
- Provide professional development opportunities to direct service staff.
- Remain current on issues that impact domestic violence survivors and community resources/agency referrals.
- Oversee the provision of 45-hour training for agency volunteers and staff.
- Provide direct training to enhance best practices in service delivery
- Offer additional training opportunities to direct service staff as deemed necessary and appropriate to survivor and staff needs.
- Assist each staff person supervised to develop and implement an annual professional development plan.
- Ensure that direct service staff are meeting all funder continuing education requirements.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
- Contribute/develop coordination and communication between programs.
- Represent Huntingdon House to the Community.
- Attend community events and relevant meetings.
- Attend meetings with community partners to determine opportunities for social change to benefit survivors.
- Respond to and coordinate the agency’s participation with community events, as requested.
- Participate with the development systems advocacy planning and implementation.
- Identify and address opportunities for systems change, within a context of coordination with direct service staff and agency leadership.
- Develop and coordinate agency outreach activities with priority to those that relate to coordinated community response.
- Develop and oversee social media campaigns.
- Develop and maintain traditional media contracts and campaigns.
- Assist with and coordinate agency presentations to community groups/agencies.
- Maintain and monitor the safety and security of the shelter facility.
- Adhere to all personnel policies as approved by the Board of Directors.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in additional HH committees and teams when appropriate.
- Maintain current knowledge in the field and attend continuing education events to increase professional knowledge and effectiveness.
- Attend out of town meetings and/or overnight trainings.
- Adhere to Huntingdon House policies and procedures including but not limited to, the Confidentiality Policy, Code of Ethics, and Mandated Child Abuse Reporting policies.
- Work independently, but also function as a team member.
- Represent the agency to the public and the professional community in a positive manner
- Work under the supervision of the Executive Director.
- Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies and procedures of the agency.
EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s degree in social work or related field preferred, or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years’ applicable work experience required, or high school diploma/GED accompanied with a minimum of five years’ work and/or volunteer experience in a social work or human services related field required. Domestic Violence related experience preferred.
2. Possess proficient interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Demonstrate the ability to establish a professional relationship with staff, clients, volunteers and community partners.
4. Have knowledge of community resources.
5. Supervisory experience is required.
6. Moderate computer skills are required.
7. Possess the ability to lift a minimum of 25 – 30 pounds.
8. Hold a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
9. Pass criminal and child abuse clearance checks upon hire and there after annually or as requested.
10. Hold the philosophy consistent with the battered women’s movement including:
-the provision of Domestic Violence services with a feminist perspective
-the struggle against ageism, classism, racism, ableism, homophobia and heterosexism and gender bias
-support and involve people of all racial, social, ethnic, religious, cultural and economic groups
11. Must successfully complete the HH counselor/advocate training program.
12. Must meet qualifications to receive Act 33 and 34, and FBI clearances.
13. This is a full-time staff exempt professional position.

This job description is not an employment contract. Your employment relationship with Huntingdon House is of an “at will” nature. You may resign at any time and Huntingdon House may discharge you at any time, with or without cause.
