What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary and Middle School Tutor position at Huntington Learning Center?

At Huntington Learning Center, we are committed to providing specialized tutoring services to help all of our students receive the best education possible.

We are looking for qualified candidates to teach Reading, Phonics, Writing and Math in a 1:1 and 4:1 setting to K-8 students. Candidates must be able to multitask and work in a fast pace environment. No certification is required. Must have at least 2-3 consistent days per week of schedule availability. PLEASE NOTE: This is an in-person teaching position, not online/remote tutoring. Candidates must be located near or able to commute to Danville, CA for in-person instruction.

Working at Huntington Learning Center:

Training: We offer continual training and performance feedback that even experienced teachers appreciate. Become a more effective teacher as you enhance your present skills and develop new ones.

Students: Work with a variety of students on a one-to-one basis. As you track students' progress, you will see marked improvement in their skills, confidence, and motivation. There are no discipline problems, so you can concentrate on the material. Full-time staff conducts all parent discussions, so you have no obligation to interact with parents.

No outside work: With no lesson plans to develop or curriculum to get, you just walk into the Center and begin teaching. Everything is ready for you. Year-round flexible hours: Our after-school, weekend and summer hours adapt to your changing schedule. Since no preparation is needed beforehand, it's an ideal after-school job that's even better than tutoring on your own. We provide all the curriculum and supplies in our large and conveniently located learning center facility.

  • $20.00 to $25.00/hour depending on experience

REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree. Tutoring or teaching experience is preferred but not required.
  • Flexibility and reliability. Willing to work a minimum of 2-3 days (6-10 hours) per week.
  • Pass a background check which may include fingerprinting.
  • A strong desire to make a difference in the lives of children.
