Underwriter - Direct Consumer Lending

Description

The Underwriter – Consumer Direct underwrites Non-Equity Unsecured, Secured/Titled and Deposit products for Retail and Phone Bankers, Huntington.com, and BLEND on-line origination channels on the ACAPS credit platform.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Underwrite Unsecured products throughout the Bank’s Footprint (including Fixed Unsecured ILN’s, specialty Home Improvement/CRA programs such as Ohio State Home Improvement, Mercy Medical, and EcoLink)
• Underwrite Secured Titled products throughout the Bank’s Footprint (including Vehicle ILN’s, New/Used, Marine, RV, Miscellaneous Titled, as well as HNB Deposit secured products/liquid collateral)
• Underwrite applications from initial decision to clear-to-close, utilizing ACAPS/EDR HAWC imaging in a paperless environment
• Adhere to all department service level standards for communication, production, and cycle time
• Contribute to a supportive environment that offers collaboration, customer service and a commitment to doing it right
• Perform other duties as assigned
  
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 or more years of Consumer Lending experience for real estate and/or consumer product sets referenced in the job description
• Preferred to have recent underwriting experience with all in-depth knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance, (i.e., Reg B, Fair Lending, ATR/Ability to Repay, Income, etc.)
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to analyze and underwrite complex loan structure, including complex self-employed cashflows, personal/business, PFS, etc. as well as standard Wage Earner/Paystub/W-2
• Experience with risk accountability, law and regulation compliance and audit/regulatory examination response, mitigate risk with Red Flag identification and Risk tools, (e.g., AUCC/ID XCHECK, LEXIS NEXIS, etc.)
• Working knowledge of standard product set, purchase agreements/bill of sale, titles, UCC’s, clean title/lien perfection process
• Proficient in software (Microsoft Office Package, including Excel)
• Ability to accurately interpret, apply, and explain policy/procedures to both internal and external customers
• Self-discipline to work in a high-volume environment with minimal supervision, while maintaining acceptable production service levels
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Customer service oriented
• Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high-level of flexibility
