Position Objective:
The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the organization's personnel, property, and assets. This role involves conducting employee ingress and egress using a walkthrough metal detector, monitoring premises, conducting patrols, responding to security threats, and enforcing company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong command presence and observational skills, a commitment to maintaining a secure environment, and the ability to respond to incidents promptly and professionally.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor and control employee access points to the premises, ensuring only authorized personnel enter.
- Conduct regular patrols of the facilities to identify and address potential security risks.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances or suspicious activity.
- Enforce rules and regulations about property security and safety.
- Operate and monitor security systems, such as radio and PDA devices, alarms, and access control systems, such as walkthrough and handheld metal detectors.
- Write or electronically submit daily activity reports detailing all incidents, risks, or unusual occurrences.
- Coordinate with law enforcement or emergency response teams when necessary.
- Conduct initial investigations and preserve evidence when responding to security breaches.
- Assist employees, guests, or visitors courteously and professionally.
- Perform security checks on personnel entering and exiting the premises.
- Provide any other assistance as requested by management.
Requirements for this position:
- Must have a valid security officer license or certification.
- Must pass a 20 year FBI background check and airport badging requirements.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and random tests throughout the time of employment. DOT does not allow the use of THC.
- Must be able to operate surveillance and security systems.
- Must possess strong attention to detail with excellent observational skills.
- Must have effective communication and report-writing abilities.
- Must be physically fit and ability to stand for extended periods and conduct patrols.
- Must have the ability to respond calmly and professionally in emergencies or high-stress situations.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident or possess a valid work permit.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Other preferred qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Security Officer or in a similar role.
- Basic first aid or CPR certification.
- Work well as part of a team and with minimal supervision.
- Maintain personal appearance and hygiene
- Ability to effectively speak, write, and understand English
- Have a working cell phone and E-Mail account
Physical demands:
- Shifts may include evenings, graveyard shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to stand, walk and patrol for a long period of time and be able to stay alert throughout your shift.
- Possible exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor patrols.
