Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate High School Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of math concepts and the ability to teach them in ways that engage and inspire students with diverse learning needs. As a member of the HCPS faculty, you will contribute to a collaborative teaching environment and play a key role in shaping the educational experiences of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging and differentiated lesson plans for high school math courses, including but not limited to Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.
  • Assess students' individual learning needs and adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that supports student growth and learning.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching tools, including technology, hands-on activities, and project-based learning, to make math accessible and exciting for all students.
  • Provide ongoing assessment of student progress through formative and summative evaluations, and maintain accurate records of grades and performance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification in Mathematics or eligibility to obtain certification in Alabama.
  • Experience teaching high school math, preferably in an environment that supports students with learning differences.
  • Strong knowledge of math pedagogy and best practices for differentiated instruction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
