The Director of Safety and Risk Management at Hurricane Express is responsible for leading and overseeing all safety programs, risk management strategies, and compliance initiatives to ensure the safe and efficient operations of our fleet. This role is critical to maintaining our commitment to safety, reducing risk, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities· Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Design and oversee comprehensive safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This includes driver training, safety audits, and accident prevention initiatives.
· Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with trucking operations.
· Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and other relevant safety guidelines.
· Accident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
· Safety Training: Develop and deliver safety training programs for drivers, maintenance staff, and other employees to promote safe practices and behaviors.
· Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, compliance activities, and risk assessments. Prepare regular reports for senior management.
· Emergency Response Planning: Develop and implement emergency response plans to handle accidents, natural disasters, and other emergencies.
· Leadership and Culture: Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization, providing leadership and guidance to foster a proactive approach to risk management.
· Budget Management: Manage the budget for safety and risk management programs, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
Qualifications and Requirements· Education: Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Risk Management, Transportation, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
· Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety and risk management within the trucking or transportation industry.
· Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) are highly desirable.
· Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and other relevant safety guidelines.
· Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to analyze data, develop strategies, and implement effective solutions.
· Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify risks, conduct investigations, and develop corrective actions.
· Training: Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs.
· Technology: Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
Work EnvironmentThe Director of Safety and Risk Management will work primarily in an office setting but will also spend time in the field conducting inspections, training, and investigations. Travel may be required to various company locations and sites.
Salary : $91,000 - $110,000
