Summary:
This Controller/Accountant position is with one of the largest wineries in the State of Idaho. Huston Vineyards is a premier 10,000 case winery that is growing rapidly in the Northwest. Located in the relatively new Snake River Valley AVA, Huston Vineyards is a family-owned operation focused on both farming and crafting a strong portfolio of wines. Our wines have accumulated a number of regional, national, and international accolades demonstrating the uniqueness of the terroir.
We focus on growing the highest quality fruit in estate vineyards or vineyards in close proximity to one of our production facilities either a Northwest custom crush facility or our own production facility in Caldwell, Idaho. Sales of these world-class wines are made in our tasting room and through our customer Club programs, by our wholesale sales team, and distributor partnerships throughout the NW.
The Controller/ Accounting office location would in Caldwell, Idaho.
Job Description Summary:
The Controller/ Accountant will perform all the accounting, purchasing, financial reporting, office management, and operating system management for all Huston related companies. The perfect candidate must be self-motivated, understand manufacturing accounting, and have experience in cost accounting. A background in agriculture is a plus with a mechanical aptitude.
- Perform, Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting functions for the organization in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong experience with desktop Quickbooks required
- Accounts Receivable
- Accounts Payables
- Fixed Assets
- Cost Accounting (grapes and finished wine)
- Inventory (tracking, transfers, location reconciliations, monthly/ inventory counts, etc.)
- Payroll
- Responsible for all accounting-related systems
- Prepare monthly financial statements and monthly sales reporting
- Develop and implement accounting policies, controls, and procedures that improve accuracy and integrity
- Compile and manage all TTB compliance and tax reporting
- Compile and submit all States tax reporting
- Develop annual budget and forecasting processes
- Compile and manage intercompany entries
- Manage all aspects of the business management software – Orderport
- Identify, recommend, and implement department improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Assist owners with budgeting, forecasting, & long-range planning
- Negotiate and purchase all manufacturing materials and equipment necessary for making wine and any products associated with the business
- Compile final tax documentation for CPA and adjustments for final tax returns
- Review annually all long-term contracts to ensure compliance and negotiate best pricing
- Organize and maintain accounting office and maintain necessary data for tax purposes
- Work with owners in HR management insuring proper documentation and implementation of benefits
- 4-year business degree from an accredited college/university with emphasis in accounting or finance and/or 3 years of work experience in cost or manufacturing accounting with a proven record within an organization
- Experience in cost accounting and/or manufacturing accounting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational, problem solving and, analytical skills
- Good computer skills, with proven spreadsheet development and comprehensive experience
- Creative, flexible and innovative team player
- Ability to lift up to 42 lbs
- Must have clean driving record
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must have a mechanical aptitude
- Must Currently live in SW Idaho, preferred Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Ontario area
- Ability to follow directions and learn on the job
- Be physically capable of doing the work necessary
