What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Institutional Research (ADM3329) position at Hutchinson Community College?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential -
- Provide leadership for the research and reporting functions of the college.
- Maintain research policies and procedures.
- Determine data needed and available in college data systems, for example, the J1 student information system, payroll, CRM, etc.
- Continue to design collection system and instruments for needed data.
- Guide the selection of appropriate software to integrate and extract data.
- Coordinate the administration of various assessment tools, including but not limited to concentrator follow-up, Ruffalo Noel-Levitz Student Satisfaction, and Personal Assessment of the College Environment (PACE).
- Prepare Kansas Board of Regents KSPSD and other KBOR reports, IPEDS reports, HLC reports, internal reports as needed, Department of Education Gainful Employment reports (in collaboration with Financial Aid staff).
- Provide high school enrollment data to partner school districts, as needed.
- Gather and maintain student summary information for internal dashboards, HLC, and KACCBO.
- Actively participate in college committee work, providing data and analysis, as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Records Office to accurately report enrollment and completion data to the National Student Clearinghouse.
- Ensure accurate data reporting by working collaboratively with all areas of the college in cleaning data and fixing errors.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Comply with HutchCC policies, practices, and procedures.
Secondary –
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the HutchCC President.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Training and/or experience in research required (3 years preferred).
- Training and/or experience in computer analysis and design required (3 years preferred).
- Training and/or experience in statistical analysis.
- Experience with an educational Student Information System (SIS) preferred.
- Experience with Business Intelligence Software (Power BI preferred or Tableau).
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook).
- Self-direction, takes initiative.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, subordinates, and supervisors.
- Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Physical requirements include excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability and willingness to collaborate; work independently; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light to moderate, indoor work environment.

SALARY and STATUS:
The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12 months annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and exempt.
