The EMS Clinical Coordinator will serve two main functions: 1) provide clinical and field internship training opportunities for students in the Paramedic, Advanced EMT, and EMT programs; and 2) provide departmental leadership with oversight and monitoring to ensure full program compliance related to health care facilities, program accreditation, and Kansas Board of EMS regulations.
RESPONSIBILTIES: Essential -
Clinical Coordinator Functions-
- Coordinate clinical and field internships for students and act as a liaison between students, faculty, and health care facility professionals and administrators.
- Monitor student progress at the clinical/field internship sites.
- Ensure site personnel understand the preceptor’s role in the students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with EMS Program Coordinator and faculty to identify, select, and contract with clinical and field internship sites. Develop and maintain contractual agreements with host sites.
- Ensure program compliance with documentation and record keeping of all CAAHEP standards and guidelines and program evaluations.
- Review and update clinical manuals in conjunction with EMS Program Coordinator and faculty annually.
- Assignments may include evenings and weekends as needed.
Compliance Functions -
- Support departmental leadership with oversight and monitoring to ensure full program compliance related to accreditation, health care facilities policies, and Kansas Board of EMS regulations.
- Support EMS department leadership as the subject matter expert on clinical compliance and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate directly with department leadership to develop an internal monitoring and auditing system.
- Develop effective communication pathways with EMS program coordinator and faculty, partner health care facility leadership, and state agencies.
- Conduct timely and effective compliance training and education for EMS program personnel.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
Secondary –
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Instructor, EMS Program Coordinator, Public Safety Department Chair, and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs
- May advise prospective and enrolled students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree or higher from an accredited academic institution.
- Current Kansas Paramedic or RN.
- Experience in compliance with accreditation standards and Kansas Board of EMS regulations and statutes is desired.
- Understanding of federal/state regulations with regards to health care facilities is desired.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, staff, faculty, community partners, and other HutchCC stakeholders in a student-centered environment.
- Excellent oral/written communication, organizational/planning, and data gathering/analytic skills.
- Computer-literate with skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and related software applications.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, with attention to detail and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to manage interpersonal conflict situations requiring tact, diplomacy and discretion.
- Ability to participate as a team member, understand/interpret rules/regulations, and adjust to change with a positive attitude.
- Physical requirements include excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/indoor work environment.

SALARY and STATUS:
The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12-months annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and exempt.
