Chief Mechanical Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Chief Mechanical Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial mechanical estimating, a deep understanding of industry standards, and a track record of leading successful estimation teams.

Key Responsibilities: Lead and Manage the Estimating Team: Oversee the day-to-day activities of the mechanical estimation department, providing mentorship and guidance to junior estimators.

Develop Accurate Estimates: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems in commercial projects, using up-to-date cost data, labor rates, and material pricing.

Review and Analyze Project Documents: Study drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documents to identify project scope and necessary resources.

Collaborate with Project Teams: Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Clients to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets.

Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing.

Cost Analysis and Budgeting: Develop comprehensive cost reports and provide value engineering suggestions were applicable to keep projects within budget.

Client Interaction and Presentations: Present estimates to clients and upper management, demonstrating thorough knowledge of project details and costs.

Bid Preparation: Prepare competitive bid proposals in response to RFP's, ensuring all elements of the project are accounted for.

Monitor Market Trends: Stay updated on industry trends, market pricing, and advancements in mechanical systems to enhance estimate accuracy.

Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical estimating with a focus on commercial projects.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

Software Proficiency: Familiarity with estimation software (e.g., QuickPen, Trimble, or similar) and a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)

Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection.

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, manage multiple estimates simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and stakeholders.

Preferred: Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or related credentials. Experience with LEED - certified projects and sustainable building practices.
