Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting a safe workplace for all employees. The ideal candidate will have a 3 plus year background in occupational health and safety, along with the ability to develop effective training programs and conduct thorough investigations into incidents.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, including EPA standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Provide training development for employees on EHS practices, including first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Prepare detailed reports on EHS performance metrics, incidents, and compliance status for management review.
- Stay updated on changes in workers' compensation law and other relevant legislation affecting workplace safety.
- Collaborate with various departments to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in EHS roles, with a strong understanding of occupational health standards and practices.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications related to EHS are a plus.
- Experience in report writing and data analysis related to safety performance metrics.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques to effectively address safety issues.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes may be beneficial for understanding workplace hazards specific to manufacturing environments.
