What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Sales Manager position at Hyatt Regency Rochester?
The Event Sales Manager is responsible for selling and servicing hotel events, including weddings, galas, corporate functions and social gatherings. This position has an assigned quota and is responsible for solicitation of new business, handling inquiries, and detailing events. Primary sales efforts are in banquet food & beverage and meeting room rental, and may also include menu planning, agenda setting and coordinating other hotel services. This position includes a base salary and achievement bonus.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Full-time management position that requires schedule flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends and holidays to meet with clients and/or support scheduled functions.
- 1 to 3 years of events sales or comparable experience, preferably in a hotel setting. Familiarity with the local market and ability to travel locally on a periodic basis. Food & Beverage background preferred.
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven success in client management and account development.
- Refined verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in general computer applications.
- Skilled in selling, negotiating, business writing and presentations.
- Extremely detail oriented and organized with ability to multi-task.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Research and identify new business opportunities for hotel venues. Professionally approach and communicate with current and prospective customers to develop valuable business relationships and increase sales opportunities.
- Solicit business through a variety of means including creative networking and cold calling to achieve assigned production goals. Meet with clients both on and off-property.
- Maintain awareness of market conditions, positioning of hotel, and booking patterns to develop effective sales strategies and tactics to maximize selling opportunities.
- Conduct property site visits with potential clients. Prepare original, creative proposals tailored to address the needs of the customer and with a thorough understanding of property and brand specifics and the operational capabilities of the hotel.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales and transactions. Complete all required and requested reporting and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Deliver a high level of customer service with clients and key decision makers. Resolve concerns swiftly and gracefully. Seek customer input and anticipate customer needs.
- Any other duties / tasks as requested.
