Hyde County Schools: Call for Contract Facilitator – Mainland Citizens Academy
Hyde County Schools is seeking an experienced and dynamic facilitator to lead its Mainland Citizens Academy, a civics and leadership program designed to engage both students and community adults in understanding local government, civic responsibilities, and leadership pathways. This contract position will oversee the design, coordination, and facilitation of either the student or adult cohort (or both) based on applicant experience and interest.
Position Overview
- Type: Contracted Facilitator (part-time)
- Duration: Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 (approx. 10 sessions)
- Location: Mattamuskeet area (Mainland Hyde County)
- Cohorts: One for high school students (grades 9–12) and one for adult community members
- Compensation: Competitive stipend based on experience and scope
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a 10 session curriculum focused on civic knowledge, local government, community advocacy, and local industry.
- Coordinate site visits with local officials, agencies, and businesses.
- Facilitate engaging, culturally responsive sessions for participants.
- Collaborate with Hyde County Schools staff to align student sessions with curricular goals and standards.
- Assess and report on participation outcomes.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in education, public administration, community development, or civic engagement.
- Strong facilitation and public speaking skills.
- Knowledge of Hyde County’s governmental structure, businesses, and community dynamics is preferred.
- Must be able to travel within Mainland Hyde County.
