Responsibilities
- Manage case files from intake through trial, ensuring deadlines are met
- Draft and file legal documents, pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
- Propound and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions
- Assist in preparing attorneys for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials
- Locate and communicate with expert witnesses
- Manage and coordinate court deadlines and attorney calendars
- Navigate and manage client files within our CRM and other web-based applications
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and other legal professionals
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings
- Assist in settlement negotiations and case evaluations
- Perform other administrative duties as required to support litigation teams
Qualifications
- You must have a minimum of 3 years experience in Texas personal injury litigation.
- 3 years of experience in personal injury litigation in another state does not count.
- 3 years of experience handling prelit (non-litigation) matters for a Texas personal injury firm does not count.
- Knowledge of Texas personal injury litigation, including court deadlines, motion practice, and discovery procedures
- Strong multitasking abilities and the ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline- and quota-driven environment
- Proficiency in case management software, CRM systems, and other web-based legal applications. (Experience with Filevine preferred)
- Exceptional organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work late hours (only as necessary to meet deadlines).
Preferred Skills
- Experience working on commercial vehicle accident cases
- Familiarity with Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and local court rules
- Prior experience assisting in trial preparation
- Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required
