POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant with expertise in government contracting to join our dynamic accounting team. This role is responsible for supporting the month-end close process, account reconciliations, and financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience with Deltek Costpoint, government invoicing systems, and a strong understanding of joint venture accounting.
Candidates will work in-office in Reston, VA while they are learning, and then will shift to a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities/Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Responsibilities of this position will include but may not be limited to the following:
- Utilize Deltek Costpoint to prepare and post journal entries for monthly close activities.
- Reconcile HGL and Joint Venture bank accounts, researching outstanding transactions to ensure accurate general ledger entries.
- Maintain and record project equipment and fixed asset transactions, including journal entries and asset tracking.
- Update and manage office lease accounting, ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit quarterly GSA fee payment requests.
- Reconcile joint venture inter-company accounts, identifying and coordinating required adjustments.
- Assist with the monthly close process for joint ventures, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.
Required Skills
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 4 years of accounting experience within a government contracting environment.
- Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar large-scale ERP systems.
- Microsoft Office skills including advanced Excel to include pivot tables and complex formulas.
Preferred Skills
WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT – Preferred, not required
- Deltek Costpoint ERP.
- Strong understanding of government contract compliance and cost accounting standards (CAS).
- Experience with inter-company accounting and joint venture reconciliations.
- Knowledge of ASC 842 and ASC 606.

The salary range for this position ranges from $72,231 – 108,347. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills. If your desired salary falls outside of this range, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.
