Job Purpose:
The Construction Estimator plays a critical role in securing work with clients by delivering accurate contract proposal estimates, purchase orders, and subcontracts for underground utility construction projects, including electrical, telecommunications, and data centers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare bid proposals, including detailed estimates, by calculating takeoff of scope of work and soliciting pricing from qualified vendors and subcontractors.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings.
- Attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work.
- Negotiate and prepare purchase orders and subcontracts for awarded projects.
- Participate in pre-job meetings with project management personnel.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 5 years of relevant construction estimating experience in telecom, electric, data centers, and pipeline markets.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop good working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and business partners.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy of information.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- General knowledge of estimating and takeoff software.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
