Job Title: Human Resources Assistant (Part-Time)
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour
Hours: This position will typically be scheduled 15-30 hours/week Monday – Friday, including some weekend hours in the summer season.
Job Summary:
Hyland Hills Parks & Recreation District is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to provide administrative support to the HR department. Key responsibilities include delivering monthly presentations on HR topics for employees, assisting with payroll processing, managing electronic employee records while ensuring confidentiality, and supporting various HR functions.
The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, handle sensitive information with discretion, and take a proactive approach to HR support tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver monthly presentations on various HR topics, such as workplace policies, employee benefits, diversity & inclusion, and professional development.
- Assist with payroll processing by reviewing and correcting timecards for accuracy, addressing employee inquiries related to timecards and payroll, ensuring supervisor approvals are obtained, and maintaining compliance with District policies.
- Assist with new onboarding hire processes for part-time and seasonal employees; includes weekend events for the Water World Onboarding Event held on weekends before the opening date.
- Maintain and update electronic employee records while ensuring confidentiality.
- Support compliance efforts by reviewing and organizing I-9 digital documents and other electronic employment-related forms.
- Respond to inquiries from employees, supervisors and applicants via email or phone about employment procedures, policies, verification of employment requests, password resets, W-2 document requests, and other HR-related topics.
- Provide HR support during weekend hours in the summer season, as needed.
- Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Perform other duties as assigned by HR management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of payroll processing and HR policies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR software (preferred).
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage employees.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to employee relations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Business Management or directly related field or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and years of experience in the field.
- Two (2) years of general administrative experience; HR-related experience is preferred.
- Availability to work weekend hours during the summer season.
