Position Overview :
The Estimator position provides effective estimating analysis to the affiliated division's estimating group through all aspects of the estimating life cycle. This position is accountable for the development and submission of detailed and accurate estimates, providing guidance / peer checks to other estimators, and supporting post-bid submission customer requirements.
Work with a close-knit, proactive team as you help drive the department's business goals. Location & Travel :
- It is preferred that this person be based in the Northeast Region of the United States (New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc.)
- Frequent travel to job sites in the New York or Massachusetts area
- Occasional travel to other IBA offices, yard locations, training, and pre-bid meetings
- Additional customer-related travel may also be required
Responsibilities :
Abide by bid and project delivery processWork with the Estimating Project Administrator to upload project documents to ShareFile for vendors / subcontractorsReview all contract documents to become familiar with project requirements and obligations under the contract and apply to pricing (schedule, specifications, drawings, safety manual, etc.), reviewing documents for accuracy and consistencyWork with the Estimating Project Administrator to submit RFIs for estimating questions by deadlineVisit potential jobs and unit jobs with company and utility customer resources.Perform material take-offObtain vendor and subcontractor quotes and evaluate for completeness and best price for use in bid (Abide by our purchasing policy and ethics)Distribute qualification documents as required for the bid (MBE, WBE, experience, key individuals, etc.)Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external stakeholdersPrepare and / or provide input for customer required deliverables (schedule, proposal letter, etc.)Prepare award documents for review to be submitted by the deadlineIdentify areas of importance (milestones, LDs, etc.) of a project and relay to PM and / or Regional DirectorIdentify possible change orders and relay to PMReview purchase orders, subcontracts, and contracts for accuracyAssure complete and thorough pre-construction planning and distribution of all documents in accordance with the project delivery processFacilitate a scope review with the PM; assist construction personnel at the onset of the project life-cycle in tracking and understanding basis and approach to the cost estimateAttend pre-construction / project meetingsAttend a Post Construction Meeting at the end of the project to provide lessons learned in the estimating process.Participate in weekly estimating / level 10 meetingsParticipate in monthly safety meetingsDesired Qualifications :
Required :
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or other related field or comparable equivalent of education and work experienceFive years or more related experience in Utility construction industry performing cost estimates and estimating knowledge of utility industry.An acceptable combination of education and work experience, validating estimating skill level.Other :
Valid Driver's License is required to operate a company or personal vehicle for company business.Ability to travel as required throughout the Northeast (New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.)Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorizations per the Federal I-9 requirement.Desired :
