Cosmetology Instructor Job Description
Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Cosmetology Instructor to join our team and inspire the next generation of beauty professionals. This role is centered around education and mentorship, not client services. You’ll play a key part in shaping students’ skills, confidence, and professionalism as they train to become licensed nail technicians.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in all aspects of Cosmetology, including but not limited to sanitation, anatomy, product knowledge, haircutting, hair styling, hair extensions, hair coloring, up-dos, and state board prep.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning, growth, and creativity.
- Evaluate student progress regularly through practical and written assessments.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, tools, and equipment in compliance with health regulations.
- Oversee and approve student-provided Cosmetology services once they’ve reached the appropriate level of training.
- Assist in inventory management by keeping track of supplies and notifying management when reordering is necessary.
- Ensure all student services meet school standards and state regulations—providing feedback, guidance, and correction as needed.
- Stay current with industry trends, safety practices, and licensing requirements.
- Collaborate with school staff and contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture.
Skills
- Current Cosmetology license (Instructor license preferred or must be obtained within a set time frame. For those without, a separate agreement will be negotiated).
- Strong knowledge of cosmetology principles.
- Proficiency in various Cosmetology techniques including cutting, styling, coloring, and hair extensions.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in Cosmetology.
- Previous teaching or training experience is a strong plus (but not required—passion and communication skills matter most!).
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to motivate and connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain a professional, organized, and inspiring classroom environment.
- [Bonus] Bilingual abilities or multicultural sensitivity.
- [Bonus] Experience with curriculum development or lesson planning.
- [Bonus] Passion for mentoring and making a real impact in students’ lives.
Join our team as a Nail Technician where your skills will shine, and your passion for beauty will thrive!
