What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer, Machinist 1 position at i3 Assembly?
JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Under the supervision of the Manager, Engineering 2, the Engineer, Machinist key roles are to prepare and operate CNC and Manual machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling to support necessary Mold tooling, piece parts and various tooling to support general production activities for all departments. To excel in this key role, you must be able communicate clearly.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading part drawings and detailing and or directly working with Process and Product Engineers.
- Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
- Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
- Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An ideal candidate is able to work with great concentration and precision, must be responsible and comply with all safety guidelines.
- A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are essential.
- Proven experience as CNC operator.
- Skill in operating manual machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents.
- Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM, Inventor or SolidWorks.
- Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
- A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
- Machining: 1 year (Required.)
- Precision measuring instruments: 1 year (Required.)
- CNC/Manual: 1 year (Required.)
- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Required.)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a quantitative discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
- Self-starter with demonstrated self-initiated goals and results.
- Demonstrated capability to multitask in support of multiple concurrent projects and initiatives.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail is required.
- Commitment to work with a hands-on approach in a team atmosphere is required.
- Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast-paced Contract Manufacturing environment.
- This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR.)
- ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires limited supervision for routine processes, can implement changes with detailed instruction.
