What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at i3 Assembly?
JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Under the supervision of the Director, Supply Chain the key roles are responsible for analyzing the MRP requirements to maintain the production floor to enable customer requirements to be fulfilled. Must have knowledge of manufacturing processes and lead times of raw material. Responsible for establishing production plans, monitor material, resources and work in process to meet schedules. To excel in this key role, you must be able communicate clearly.
ESSENTAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops, analyze, and maintains production plan for assemblies and sub-assemblies, identifies material requirements, and build schedules for production. Works closely with the manufacturing floor and Supply Chain for capacity/resource availability/constraints.
- Establishes time frames to fulfill build plans by understanding requirements and material availability and communicates these requirements to production team.
- Works closely with management to identify and mitigate production issues due to material shortages, yield, engineering changes, or order cancellations.
- Interfaces with manufacturing, quality, planning, procurement and engineering on a continuous basis.
- Assists in ensuring bills of material, routings, and production orders for new products are accurate and properly executed.
- Participates in production meetings as appropriate.
- Monitors WIP and defective parts that may put the production build plan in jeopardy.
- Participates in cycle counting and physical inventory. Works root cause analyses where appropriate.
- Monitors excess and obsolete to ensure overage of raw material, finished goods and excess WIP are dispositioned accordingly.
- Ensures correctness of master data (material masters, bills of material, routings, and production order types) to support successful execution of the master production schedule.
- Will assist in the warehouse as required.
- Issues, Maintain and track all production orders.
- Maintain month end close for production orders.
- Responsible for producing production reports as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in business discipline and/or 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing materials environment preferred; OR related experience with strong background in MRP and production scheduling / control function.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have experience in ERP Systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, but not limited to excel and word.
- Knowledge of planning/scheduling techniques.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and follow through on multiple tasks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to navigate shop floor.
- Occasional lifting/carrying of product throughout the manufacturing floor, dock, and warehouse.
- Must be able to use material handling equipment.
- Prolonged Standing and walking.
- Prolonged periods of computer work.
- Must be able to lift. Carry 10 – 50 lbs.
- Required to work around chemicals and loud noises.
- Must be able to work in a clean room and wear clean room attire.
- Must be able to wear required safety protective equipment including but not limited to safety shoes, glasses or ESD coats.
