Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers with a strong focus on individual skill development, coaching, and career progression.
- Participate directly in product consultation and process development is a hands-on leadership role.
- Steward a culture of ownership, trust, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other cross-functional teams to align technical execution with business goals.
- Identify skill gaps and growth opportunities across the team; design initiatives to upskill team members through pair programming, workshops, and one-on-ones.
- Define, track, and improve engineering processes to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable software delivery.
- Champion technical excellence, fostering best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.
- Create an inclusive environment where engineers from diverse backgrounds feel supported and empowered to do their best work.
- Compliant with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status (ITAR defines “U.S. Person” as a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident)
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check and work under an Federal Firearms Manufacturing License.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug-screen.
- 7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role. (Let me know if you would like to change the experience requirement)
- Strong background in engineering with recent experience in a hands-on technical role.
- Track record of developing engineers through coaching, mentorship, and thoughtful performance management.
- Deep understanding of modern engineering practices and the ability to teach and reinforce those practices across a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, empathetic leadership style.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and small, high-impact teams.
- Experience in building high-performing teams from within through skills development rather than solely through hiring.
- Background in agile development environments and familiarity Lean practices.
- Previous work with early-stage companies or product teams where resourcefulness and flexibility were key.
