The engineering manager oversees all the integrated systems of engineering, from specification creation through manufacturing. The goal of the engineering manager is to set up processes, systems, and products to the level of quality that any engineering team, anywhere would respect and utilize.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership: Lead and manage a team of engineers, ensuring efficient execution of product development and engineering projects.
New Product Introduction (NPI): Oversee the design, prototyping, testing, and launch of new wire, cable assembly, and connector products.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure that all products meet industry standards (e.g., UL, ISO, RoHS, REACH) and company quality requirements.
Factory Audits & Supplier Management: Conduct and oversee factory audits to ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and operational standards.
Design & Development: Lead the design process, including material selection, manufacturability assessments, and cost optimization.
Process Improvement: Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in engineering and manufacturing operations.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure adherence in all product development and manufacturing processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, sales, and supply chain teams to align engineering initiatives with business goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
10 years of experience in engineering leadership within the interconnect industry (wire, cable assemblies,
connectors).
Strong knowledge of industry regulations and standards (UL, ISO, IPC, RoHS, REACH, etc.).
Experience with factory audits and supplier qualification processes.
Proven track record of successful product design, development, and introduction.
Strong project management skills and the ability to oversee multiple engineering initiatives simultaneously.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in CAD software and engineering analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of automation and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Background in cost optimization and value engineering.
Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin a plus.
Working Conditions
Working conditions are normal for a professional office environment. Some travel may be required.
