Job Title:Senior Cost Reporting Analyst Medicare/Medicaid
Location: Remote
Salary : $70,000 - $102,000 per year
Reports To:Director of Financial Reporting
Department:Finance
Job Overview:The Senior Cost Reporting Analyst - Medicare/Medicaid will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and submitting Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of federal and state regulations, reimbursement methodologies, and reporting requirements. The Senior Analyst will collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy, driving insights into reimbursement optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medicare/Medicaid Cost Reporting:
- Prepare and file Medicare and Medicaid cost reports in accordance with federal and state guidelines.
- Review and analyze cost reporting data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations.
- Ensure timely submission of cost reports and respond to requests from CMS and other regulatory agencies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Masters degree or professional certifications (CPA, CMA) preferred.
- Experience:
- 5 years of experience in Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting in the healthcare industry.
- Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare financial operations.
- Experience with cost reporting software (e.g., HFS, PBS, or Crowe Horwath).
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups) and financial modeling.
- Familiarity with healthcare ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and financial reporting tools.
- Experience with cost report preparation software is a plus.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data reconciliation and reporting.
- Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement improvements.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex cost reporting and reimbursement issues to non-financial stakeholders.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
- Ability to mentor and lead a team while working independently to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with hospital or healthcare system cost reporting.
- Understanding of Medicaid state-specific reimbursement regulations.
- Experience dealing with regulatory bodies, such as CMS, during audits and appeals.
