What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at IAP?
Essential Duties:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Design and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Maintain training records and ensure all employees receive required safety training.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
- Keep up to date with changes in safety regulations and standards.
- Prepare and submit required safety reports and documentation.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Implement emergency response plans and conduct drills.
- Coordinate with management to develop and enforce safety policies.
- Communicate safety policies and procedures to all employees.
- Prepare and present safety reports to management.
- Serve as a point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid US Driver’s License
- Obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Badge) issued by the Department of Homeland Security
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in safety or training role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent communication (both written and oral) and presentation skills.
- Ability to conduct training sessions and safety audits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- This position may require occasional travel to various job sites and Training.
- Must be able to work in both office and field environments.
Physical Working Attributes:
- Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, and crawl.
- Work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
- Work in wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and extreme heat.
