What are the responsibilities and job description for the Team Lead position at IAP?
Essential Duties:
- Thoroughly and accurately survey vehicles for damages or shortages upon initial offloading from ship, truck, or rails; verify exceptions on outbound vehicles when required.
- In accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, inspect for proper installation all accessories completed by the Production Shop; and inspect body and paint work completed by the Body Shop when required.
- Perform calibration tests on tools and equipment as required.
- Maintain calibration data on tools and equipment as required.
- Ensure all warehouse and warranty exceptions are documented and processed correctly.
- Provide supervision to Quality Control Inspectors by assigning job duties on a daily basis, provide guidance and technical assistance regarding specific job functions.
- Provide orientation and training to new employees regarding proper work procedures, hazard communication standard and safe work practices.
- Ensure the quality of work performed by inspectors is according to customer standards.
- Create various charts/graphs as necessary to assist in the analyzing of quality data and statistics.
- Assist in performing internal ISO audits as required
- Work with Talent Acquisition teams to ensure adequate labor levels are met for the upcoming demands.
- Report to the QC Manager concerning recurring or serious deficiencies, as they occur.
- Ensure that all QC records and files required by customers are maintained and stored as required.
- Update and maintain QC employee time and attendance records.
- Ensure department training courses are up to date and properly documented.
- Maintain a safe working environment and follow all policies and procedures regarding safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Shift: Monday – Friday 7:00am-3:30pm with possible overtime and/or weekend work as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid US Driver’s License
- Obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Badge) issued by the Department of Homeland Security
- 1 year experience in Quality Control or other Auto Port Processing Operations.
- Drive both automatic and straight shift vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience.
- Ability to use/operate two-way radio.
- General knowledge of automobiles and repairs.
- Must have demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
- Must be able to create a plan for upcoming work.
- Must be able to communicate potentially critical information to others without appearing confrontational.
- Must have demonstrated commitment to attending work through their past employment record.
- Must be flexible and capable of adjusting work plans as issues arise.
- Ability to effectively communicate, understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Physical Working Attributes:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop throughout shift
- Vision adequate to detect minor imperfections that could possibly be overlooked in previous inspections.
- Exposed to all outdoor elements including heat, cold, rain, insects and other conditions which may exist from time to time.
