A successful Biller works to facilitate resolution of claims through attention to detail, problem-solving initiative and a dedication to efficient service for our patients.Key ResponsibilitiesPost charges into billing system within 24-48 hours and completes other billing functions under direction of supervisorIdentifies possible billing errors that might prevent the claim from being processed on the insurance company levelVerifies patient coverage and demographic information, draws conclusions, and corrects billing errors or other claim issuesEnsures compliance with applicable laws, HIPPA regulations and company policiesContributes to improvement of billing procedures and processesEscalates problem claims to management as required by circumstancesCommunicate effectively with clinic / administrative personnel, assigned coder and CLT-TeamCompletes assigned training and educationPerforms other duties as assignedAll other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to apply mathematical concepts and calculationsAbility to adapt to a fast-paced environment and learn and retain new or evolving information and proceduresDemonstrates a basic working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid processesAbility to work in a team environmentKnowledge of medical terminology, insurance billing and reimbursement, and codingMinimum RequirementsHigh School diploma or GED equivalentDemonstrated basic experience with medical billing, CPT and ICD-10 codesAbility to exercise discretion on sensitive and confidential mattersDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively on the phone, in writing and via emailDemonstrated computer skills with data entry software, Microsoft Word, and ExcelInstitutional accreditation and degree obtainment will be verified upon hirePreferred QualificationsOne or more years billing or coding experience preferably in the medical field, insurance, banking, hospital medical office or other experience with extensive customer service contactPhysical RequirementsStanding, sitting, walking, speaking, listening, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and manipulating tools, typing, using peripheral computer toolsAbout Steward Health CareNearly a decade ago, Steward Health Care System emerged as a different kind of health care company designed to usher in a new era of wellness.
