IMC is currently hiring a Nurse Practitioner (OBGYN Clinic) , under the immediate supervision of the OBGYN
Physicians or the Clinic Supervisor, applies the nursing process, effectively
interacting with patients, significant others, and other health team members,
while maintaining standards of Advanced Nursing Practice.
WORK HOURS :
Monday- Thursday—0800-1700 Friday--------------------0800-1200
EDUCATION:
Graduate of state approved RN School of nursing.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Current Louisiana NP/RN license
required. CPR certification must be obtained
prior to completion of orientation.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five years experience in the OBGYN field (required) Although a great deal of
experience will be gained on site, a solid knowledge of the body and assessment
skills is required. NP will be required to use advanced
knowledge and rationale at all times.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Basic assessment of all age groups. Proficient in medication
administration. Knowledge of abnormal vital signs
PRINCIPLE TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applies the nursing process to each
patient and implements age sensitive nursing actions. Develops an age-appropriate plan of
care for each patient seen which reflects current standards of advanced nursing. Considers age-related and
psycho-social needs as well as physical needs in establishing plan of care. Orders age-appropriate medications,
lab tests, radiological studies and other referrals on each patient seen.
Provides age-appropriate patient teaching as an integral part of the plan of
care for each patient. Documents care provided to patients. Properly utilizes and maintains
patient care equipment and supplies. Obtains specimens for lab studies
assuring sensitivity for patients’ age and level of anxiety. Presents report and consults with
NP on each patient seen. Assists LPN and Billing Clerk as
necessary. Maintains open communication with
all team members, demonstrating adaptability, supportive team work and problem
resolution. Recognizes emergency situations and
responds appropriately. Follows the policies and procedures
of the Hospital and Clinic. Demonstrates the knowledge and
skills necessary to provide care based on physical psycho-social, educational,
safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served.
