Under the supervision of the MRAP Housing Coordinator, the Housing Specialist is responsible for ensuring families relocated by MRAP into housing continue to have secure safe and sanitary housing. The MRAP Housing Specialist will work with the MRAP Housing Coordinator, and Landlords to ensure families have secure housing, and meet their needs. The individual must display initiative, creativity, organization, and computer skills.

The employee must set priorities for the tasks to be accomplished to ensure compliance with contract provisions. This individual assesses situations to determine the best course of action to follow the established policies and procedures as guidelines.

Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Research and outreach for available apartments in Albany County that may be a potential match for the MRAP program.
- Coordinate apartment inspections with landlords or property management and complete all documents with landlords to secure apartments.
- Review leases provided by landlords and/or property management.
- Develop trusting relationships with the team, landlords, and other external resources used to get apartments ready to move in.
- Ensure utilities are placed in a timely manner before MRAP families are relocated.
- Assist MRAP families who are in the process of graduation to secure and complete applications for permanent housing.
- Coordinate furnishing of secured apartments to fit assigned family’s composition.
- Maintains accurate/updated client files with program-required documentation.
- Ensures accurate data input of services provided on assigned database.
- Participates in the development of proposals, program planning, and new initiatives.
- Monitors housing to ensure compliance with contract provisions.
- Participates in community activities as assigned.
- Follow up on housing issues, concerns, and disputes MRAP families may have.
- Oversee outreach strategy development; participate or lead where appropriate. Must have a strong willingness to engage in neighborhoods - getting out of the office to meet people and connect to available opportunities.
- Must be available to work outside regularly scheduled work hours as needed.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or delegates.
