What are the responsibilities and job description for the Russian Language Instructor - Monterey, CA (February - May 2025) position at ICA Language Services?
ICA is currently seeking experienced Russian language instructors to teach adult professionals in person at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA. The candidates should have at least two years of work experience teaching the Russian language to adult students on an intensive basis (8 hours daily).
Job Details:
- Pay rate: $30.00 per hour
- Location: Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA
- Travel, lodging, and per diem included
- Project dates: Start date: End date: (travel dates to be determined)
- Training days:Monday through Friday
- Schedule: 7:45 am - 4:45 pm
- This project will involve a team teaching/instructor rotation
Duties:
- Plan and conduct Russian language classes using a variety of teaching techniques and approaches, to develop students’ listening, reading, and speaking skills;
- Use provided training materials and work collaboratively with other instructors on all program-related matters;
- Perform other teaching and administrative duties, as needed, under the guidance of the Training Manager(s) and Supervisor(s);
- Administer weekly quizzes and assessments, and conduct other informal or formal evaluations of students’ learning progress;
- Provide monthly written reports of the students' progress to the supervisor and jointly develop plans to address any potential issues;
- Maximize the use of instructional technology and online learning resources into teaching to support independent learning;
- Adjust teaching techniques and approaches to the student's individual learning styles and professional needs;
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field
- Minimum two years of full-time experience teaching adult students
- Experience teaching US military students
- Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered tests
- Knowledge of the ILR scale
- Experience integrating instructional technology in teaching and assessment
- Experience using online meeting platforms for teaching such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx
- Native speaker of the Russian language
