Litigation Business Development and Marketing Director
I am currently supporting a law firm client of mine who are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Marketing and Business Development to join their team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in driving the growth and success of a high-performing litigation practice within a leading professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic programs to reinforce business development priorities and track progress.
- Manage internal and external resources for marketing activities, including preparing presentations, RFP responses, and client events.
- Identify and secure speaking and authorship opportunities with professional and trade organizations.
- Evaluate sponsorship and event opportunities, providing recommendations on value and alignment with practice goals.
- Conduct competitor analysis and market research to identify industry trends and inform service offerings.
- Prepare content for third-party ranking submissions (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500, Law360).
- Draft internal communications and maintain up-to-date marketing materials and client matter lists.
- Organize and manage client events, seminars, and webinars to strengthen client relationships.
- Support cross-practice efforts and coordinate cross-selling initiatives.
- Develop and manage website content, newsletters, brochures, and other external communications.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or journalism (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 7–10 years of strategic marketing and business development experience in a professional services environment; law firm experience preferred.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven relationship-building skills and a strong customer service mindset.
- Creative thinker with a practical, solution-focused approach.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; knowledge of CRM and proposal software is a plus.
- Flexibility: Ability to travel periodically and work in a hybrid remote/office environment.
