Introduction:


ICES is currently seeking a highly motivated Research Analyst to join our Research and Analysis Department. The Research Analyst will report to the Research Program Manager in the Chronic Disease and Pharmacotherapy (CDP) program. The Research Analyst will work collaboratively with the project team and the Principal Investigator (PI) or Staff Scientist, and will provide analytic input to, and complete their assigned projects.


Responsibilities of the position include, but may not be limited to:


The Research Analyst will perform the following duties:

  1. Develop and execute a data set creation plan and analysis plan for their assigned projects;
  2. Develop SAS programs to extract and merge data from existing ICES databases according to data set creation plans to create study cohorts following analytic standards and guidelines;
  3. Carry out statistical analysis on developed study cohorts according to specifications of project analysis plans;
  4. Prepare and review analytic output (e.g., tables and reports);
  5. Liaise with project teams and colleagues to ensure project checkpoints and quality assurance reviews are conducted as required through the project life cycle;
  6. Work effectively and efficiently according to ICES policies, procedures, standards, workflow processes, documents, and requirements (e.g., complete program and project documentation according to ICES standards and guidelines);
  7. May help prepare study cohorts for students or faculty;
  8. May contribute to the writing of reports (technical reports/working papers/ICES publications/web-based summaries), abstracts, poster presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and other relevant deliverables, in collaboration with the PI or Staff Scientist;
  9. May interface with internal and external stakeholders in support of the project such as expert panels, committees, and team meetings;
  10. May facilitate the uptake of knowledge by local decision-makers across Ontario through the presentation of findings, education sessions, and one-on-one interactions as required;
  11. May contribute to or support the development of a body of knowledge in support of ICES such as updating dataset, and documentation;
  12. May contribute to other committees or activities within the department or ICES in support of ICES business plan as required;
  13. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.



Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Masters degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, or related field;
  • Knowledge generally gained through 2 years related experience;
  • Working knowledge of how to use administrative data or other large population-based data sets in health services research;
  • Working knowledge of basic SAS;
  • SAS programming skills; knowledge of SQL and macro writing an asset;
  • Basic understanding of the concepts of health services research and understanding of core bio-statistical analytic techniques;
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Internet Explorer), as well as the ability to work with computerized databases;
  • Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload responsibilities and timelines;
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure, and to meet deadlines.

This is a full-time opportunity at ICES Central. Successful candidate must reside within Ontario while working remotely and able to come into the office if required from time to time. There may be instances where in-person meetings are requested; however, ICES continues to support Flexible remote work arrangements anywhere in Ontario.


Security clearance may be required.
