Looking to hire an experienced structural steel and miscellaneous metals estimator for projects ranging from $25,000 to $5M.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze project specifications, contract drawings, and scope of work to determine the materials, labor, and time requirements for structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates to present to internal executive management, including material quantities, labor costs, subcontractor bids, and equipment costs.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand and clarify project needs and scope.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing for materials and services.
- Analyze bid documents and determine potential risks, as well as suggest alternatives or cost-saving measures.
- Maintain and update cost databases/metrics for materials and labor to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and presentations to clients.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulations.
- Assist in identifying project scope changes and their potential impact on costs and timelines.
- Organize and spearhead the bidding calendar to manage resources appropriately so client proposals are turned in on time.
