PIPEFITTER – Northeast Pennsylvania
ICON is currently seeking Pipefitters to support operations in the Northeast Pennsylvania area.
JOB SUMMARY:
Pipefitters are required to have knowledge of how various piping systems and equipment are installed and operate. They must:
- Have the ability to plan and lay out the installation, modification, and repair of various new and existing piping systems and equipment. must have the ability to interpret and apply building plans and blueprints, and to use mathematics to lay out angles, arcs, and circles.
- Must have skill in the use of tools and equipment such as sliding squares, measuring tapes, dividers, chalk lines, plumb bobs, templates, grinders, hand/power pipe threaders/cutters, and pipe wrenches.
- Be able to plan and lay out the needed routing, placement, pitch, incline, elevation of systems and equipment.
- Must test systems and equipment after completing work for proper circulation, flow, pressure, and leak-free joints.
Pipefitters make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places. This requires the pipefitters to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The pipefitters frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds (23 kg).

SKILLS/QUALIFICATION:
- 2 years of experience in pipefitting is preferred but not required.
- Experience in tubing and instrumentation is a plus.
- Experience in welding is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel to various local job sites within a work week. Rare but occasional out-of-town travel as well.
- Required to possess and maintain a personal set of hand tools.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime when necessary.
- Expected to ensure their workmanship meets or exceeds applicable standard industry and or customer contract specifications.
- Direct industrial construction experience will result in better compensation.
