Job Title : Cost Accounting Analyst
Job Overview :
The Cost Accounting Analyst performs standard to slightly complex cost accounting duties, maintaining cost accounting processes and systems. This role involves producing standard cost accounting reports (such as depreciation, labor, and equipment reports), preparing journal entries, and participating in the annual budgeting process. The analyst will assist operations management with budget inputs, reviews of spending, staffing, production, and capital plans, and the completion of budget templates.
This position operates independently under general supervision and is responsible for making decisions and exercising independent judgment and discretion. The analyst will play a critical role in relieving the site controller of certain duties to allow for greater engagement in corporate accounting projects, as well as providing support for ad hoc queries related to these projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Close and report on both US and Consolidated P&L on a monthly basis.
- Support planning and organization of financial activities, including budgeting, controlling, cost of goods computation, reporting, and adhering to accounting policies and procedures.
- Make proactive recommendations for business and financial improvements, including enhancements to financial processes.
- Support ad hoc initiatives, projects, and assignments as required.
- Maintain strong relationships with site, regional, and global operations and finance personnel and management.
- Monitor Financial KPIs to contribute to achieving defined objectives (e.g., added value / activity, write-offs, financial impact of technical master data, POV analysis, expenses, labor efficiency, headcount, and local metrics).
- Contribute to the monthly finance closing and reporting process, including the calculation of Capitalized Variances and classifications for major balance sheet and P&L accounts.
- Deliver accurate reporting and provide meaningful variance analysis.
- Manage financial systems architecture (e.g., SAP, TM1) for all SP M&S US sites, involving system implementations, process improvements, internal controls, and data integrity.
- Investigate improvements in systems and processes within SP M&S US and the broader North American M&S network.
