Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. is a leading asphalt supplier and marketer in the Inland Northwest and Pacific Northwest Regions. With plants in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, California, and Arizona, IAS supplies a diverse product line of asphalts, polymer-modified asphalt, and asphalt emulsions to the road maintenance and construction industry. IAS is looking for an energized and flexible self-starter to fill a full-time opening for a Quality Manager.


The Quality Manager will lead and direct the quality control and quality assurance efforts for assigned IAS locations and subsidiaries and report to the Director of Quality. The position works closely with Operations, the lab, sales reps and customers to prevent or solve problems by formulating a proactive, local quality strategy that drives for zero defects.

Position Responsibilities:


  • Ensure that each load that leaves our facilities conforms to that project requirements
  • Implement and maintain quality management systems, including Internal and agency regulations.
  • Lead root cause analysis for quality defects, drive corrective actions, and own both the internal and external communication process
  • Monitor and track Quality Control documents from each location including but not limited to Quality Control Plans, Daily Reports, Testing
  • Assure that quality certifications for each location are maintained
  • Drive quality cultural change focused on a proactive, process improvement approach
  • Develop, track, and improve key quality metrics for our plants
  • Ensure that all personnel performing QC testing are properly trained
  • Conduct annual proficiency testing of all employees that perform QC testing for each test performed
  • Work amongst industry peers through trade associations on Quality Related issues.


Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, or related field is preferred. In lieu of a degree, 5 or more years of progressive responsibility in quality is needed.
  • Experience within an asphalt manufacturing/processing environment strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt specifications and construction standards.
  • 3 or more years of laboratory experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including the plant floor, customers and other team members
  • Experience with calibration methodology and techniques and laboratory measurement tools
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation and English language communication skills
