Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for an Instrument Processing Tech to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY: The Instrument Processing Technician cleans, packages, sterilizes, and stores the supplies, instruments and equipment. Facilitates and demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instrument Processing Technician
- Adheres to the sterilization process policies and procedures.
- Cleans each item according to manufacturers instruction.
- Inspects instruments under microscope for damage and defects; lubricates items as required.
- Determines that each item is in good working condition.
- Sorts and arranges items into proper trays according to established policy and procedure.
- Wraps trays and individual items according to established policy and procedure.
- Accurately labels each item with name and expiration date.
- Correctly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washer and other equipment for processing items.
- Positions items correctly in sterilizer and selects proper cycle; seeks assistance when needed.
- Checks indicators for proper functioning.
- Performs required biological monitoring tests on all sterilizers according to established policy and procedures.
- Maintains availability of supplies for continuity of recording throughout sterilization process.
- Cleans sterilizers according to established policies and procedures.
- Cleans other equipment returned to central service for decontamination following manufacturers directions.

Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Experience in instrument processing functions preferred.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Can adapt to rapidly changing workloads due to changes in the surgery census. Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles required. Ability to respond quickly to physician and patient needs.
