Idaho Power Company (IPC) - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for two temporary System Administrator or Seniors to join our Load Serving Operations Technology team. What does a System Administrator do for us?
As a member of the Grid Solutions team, the System Administrator will serve in a project-based capacity supporting high-visibility projects. These projects include unifying our Energy Management System (EMS), Outage Management System (OMS), and Distribution Management System (DMS), as well as implementing a company-wide energy market solution. The applications this team supports are mission-critical operational applications used to monitor and control the electric grid as well as track and account for the flow of energy related to market operations. An individual who enjoys crafting solutions for unique technical problems, working in a collaborative environment, troubleshooting multi-system integrations, and learning in structured and unstructured settings will thrive in this role.
A System Administrator will also :
- Develop, configure, test, and maintain applications supporting real-time Grid Operations
- Troubleshoot, root-cause, and resolve system and application user-reported issues
- Ensure data integrity and validation across integrated systems
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and potential system improvements
- Troubleshoot, root-cause, and resolve data discrepancies as needed
- Analyze system logs and trace data to reconstruct and interpret timeline of events
- Develop, test, and implement stand-alone integrations between systems and applications
- Leverage programming and coding skills to automate tasks and improve accuracy
- Integrate with Application Programming Interfaces (API)
- Perform compliance tasks in support of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards
- Build and manage data reports and reporting tools for internal users
- Interrogate system logs and leverage monitoring tools to alert on system errors and health
- Manage, maintain, and periodically review internal user application access
- Partner with vendors to troubleshoot system issues and implement necessary fixes and upgrades
- Exercise and champion system administration change and configuration management methods
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with internal customers and application users
- Exercise technical judgement in decision-making and initiate independent action
- Develop and continuously improve comprehensive documentation for system configurations, integrations, and troubleshooting procedures
- Engineer solutions in collaboration with Cyber Security, the Operations Network team, and the Corporate Application Development Team

- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or computer information systems (CIS)
- 2 or more years of relevant technology administration experience
- 4 or more years of relevant technology administration experience
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
- Certification relevant to position, ITIL Foundation Certificate, Microsoft MCSA, Redhat RHCSA
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or equivalent field
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- 5 or more years of professional technology administration experience
- 8 or more years of experience in a corporate multi-platform technology environment
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
- Certification relevant to position, ITIL Foundation Certificate, Microsoft MCSE, Redhat RHCE, Microsoft Azure Administrator, CISSP, CCNP (Network)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This is an on-site (non-remote) position. Successful candidate will participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and must be able to arrive on site within 60 minutes when serving on call.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk / computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people.
