Position Description
The Linux Systems Administrator is a full-time position that reports to company leadership but is expected to interact and support team members across the organization. Candidates with more than three years system administration experience, working with Linux computers and networks will be considered. The individual selected for this role will provide system administration support for Idaho Scientific’s engineering team. The applicant selected will be exposed to a wide range of technical growth opportunities. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and willing to relocate to Boise, Idaho.

Position Description

What You’ll Get to Do:
- Participate in network architecture design and review
- Build, configure, maintain and test Linux, macOS, & Windows based servers and workstations
- Develop scripts to automate administration and auditing workloads
- Implement NIST 800-171 and NIST 800-53 compliant procedures and security controls
- Actively participate in the development of security practices and procedures to promote security across the organization
- Perform security auditing
- Provide IT support to employees in a fast paced, technically diverse environment
- Thoroughly document system adds, changes, and modifications
- Stay current with industry best practices, vulnerabilities and countermeasure solutions
- Provide troubleshooting of network and software issues
- Work in a team environment in coordination with and under supervision of an IT Director and/or ISSM/O
- US Citizenship
- Ability to get a security clearance
- More than 3 years of proven system administration past performance, including Linux and Windows administration, firewall and switch configuration, scripting and software deployment
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, while engaging in multiple tasks at once
- Strong listening and problem-solving skills
- Experience with computer virtualization
- Strong understanding of computer architecture
- Strong understanding of the OSI/IP Stack
- Active US Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field
- Experience with scripting with BASH and PowerShell
- Experience with Ansible or similar automation tools
- Experience using GIT
- Experience with managing IPA/IdM and/or Active Directory
- Experience with networking, layer 2 and layer 3 devices, VPN
- The preferred work location is at Idaho Scientific headquarters in Boise, Idaho
- If relocation is the only reason a candidate wouldn’t consider the position, we’re willing to consider alternative work location arrangements as long as the candidate has reliable access to secure facilities.
