Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer at Power Engineers in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer Location Boise Job Code 17460 # of openings 1 Apply Now (Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer Power Engineers is seeking a highly motivated, Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer for full-time employment in our Boise, ID office in the Geostructural Department. Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities This geotechnical engineer must be proficient in interpersonal communication skills that would allow the individual to work with other experienced engineers in a team environment. We are looking for an individual with knowledge / interest in subsurface investigations, shallow and deep foundation design for drilled piers, micropiles, driven piles, helical piles, and vibratory caissons. Additionally, this geotechnical engineer should have the knowledge, familiarity, or understanding of slope stability evaluation and mitigation, settlement evaluation, groundwater flow mechanics and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working in remote areas in small teams and navigating using GPS-based tools. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting the following project aspects : Ownership of their performance within the Department and quality of work Technical Guidance from a Senior Level Foundation Engineer Quality Assurance and Quality Control Documentation Foundation & Anchor Design Criteria Project Scheduling Geotechnical scoping Geotechnical exploration and testing Foundation and Anchor Selection Foundation and Anchor Modeling Foundation Designs Construction Specification Development Construction Drawing Development Construction Support Field Visits Continual Technical Growth Written and Verbal Coordination Both with internal colleagues and client representatives Required Education / Experience BSCE, BSGE, or MSCE (with a geotechnical or structural emphasis) from an accredited college or university. 0-3 years geotechnical or structural emphasis Candidates without geotechnical emphasis will also be considered if they have a good understanding of the engineering properties of soils. EIT certification and eligibility to sit for the PE exam within four (4) years of employment. Desired Education / Experience Strong background in computer modeling that may include EXCEL, SMARTSHEET, LPILE, SHAFT, MFAD, TFAD, SLOPE / W, Finite Element Modeling, GRLWEAP, SIGMA, RISA, STAAD and MATHCAD.
