The Role Access Planning at Lumen is a forward-looking, proactive business management domain that maintains control and manages intrinsic risk associated with a multi-billion-dollar annual Network Expense (NetEx) liability. The principle goal of the Access Planning team is to maintain an efficient network that enables revenue while maximizing profit, margin and cash flow. Access Planning utilizes an array of techniques to deliver on this goal. The Manager position is primarily focused on the 'Direct Expense' Customer Requests. This leader will manage, lead, mentor, and inspire a team of planners who works closely with Sales, Sales Engineers, POM and other Lumen groups to provide timely and cost effective design cost to grow Lumen's customer base and network. The position requires exceptional interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, a high comfort level with dynamically shifting priorities, and a curiosity and willingness to not only solve business problems but identify new business opportunities to drive profit margin and cash flow. This position includes regular communication and interaction with multiple layers of Lumen up to and including the Senior Vice President layer. Location This is a work from home position within the U.S. The Main Responsibilities Build and maintain a high-performance team : Hire and retain talent in the correct roles Set team and direct report performance management goals, monitor progress, and provide monthly feedback Delegate and hold direct reports accountable Empower direct reports to make decisions, act, and take appropriate risk Exemplify Lumen's Unifying Principles (Fairness, Honesty & Integrity, Commitment to Excellence, Positive Attitude, Respect, Faith, and Perseverance) Manage internal expectations across financial and operational activities. This includes but is not limited to providing deals within SLA timeframes and providing the most efficient and low cost network designs. Collaborate with peers, partners, and stakeholders to refine and enhance existing process and / or develop new processes to deliver on business objectives Act as liaison between business and IT business partners regarding tool development / enhancement Collect, organize, and analyze data to assess operational process and financial performance Collaborate with Access Planning leadership to develop new opportunities to optimize the network, enable revenue, and maximize cash flow Prepare and present briefing materials for consumption by senior leadership up to the Senior Vice President layer Collaborate directly with Lumen sales teams to create and drive effective customer offer strategies. Manage several related but separate complex projects within the company at one time. Manage resource requirements and allocation Other duties as assigned What We Look For in a Candidate Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 3 years of related work experience Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the telecommunications domain Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the on-net access domain Demonstrated capacity to focus and deliver on objectives in a dynamic, multi-faceted, fast-paced environment Exceptional ability to work effectively in groups with disparate priorities and operational targets Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across organizational boundaries Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Comprehensive command of telecommunication circuit mediums, enabling equipment infrastructure, and access cost structures Above average Microsoft Office application skills, specifically in Excel and PowerPoint Team player with a passion for service Preferred Qualifications Prior experience leading others through change Exceptional analytical skill and business acumen Prior experience developing and evaluating complex network performance criteria and measurement methods through statistical evaluation Bachelor's degree fields of study including Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, or Accounting Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration or equivalent Project Management Institute (PMI) project management certification Lean / Six Sigma belt certification 5 years of work experience in the on-net access domain either in a Planning or OSP role Prior people management leadership experience including recruitment, on- / off-boarding, goal setting, and performance management Data analysis skills with a working-level proficiency in writing queries including 'JOIN' and 'UNION' commands to correlate data from disparate data sources Demonstrated experience in developing, operating, and optimizing operational processes to deliver on operational and / or financial objectives Expertise in modeling and sensitivity analysis of multidimensional buying and / or commitment plans Compensation The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications. Location Based Pay Ranges $94420 - $125890 in these states : AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD. $99390 - $132510 in these states : AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY. $104360 - $139140 in these states : CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI. $109330 - $145770 in these states : AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA. As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
