Water Technician I - Water Department at City of Caldwell in Caldwell, Idaho, United States Job Description The City of Caldwell is looking for a Water Technician I to join our team in the Water Department. Individual serves as worker to repair water meters, record and report water usage; performs maintenance on water meters and lines. Maintains pump and wells. Maintains chlorine levels and monitors residuals. Performs other work as related. Responsibilities Receives work orders for re-checks, service initiation, or discontinuance. Performs re-checks of meters previously read to verify accuracy, notify owners / occupants of possible problems, and check for faulty meters or distribution system malfunctions. Initiates service to residences and businesses and serves as customer liaison to explain billing practices and program operation. Disconnects services from abandoned or empty properties and for non-payment for services; and serves as department liaison to explain program billing practices, policies, and procedures. Ability to perform all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures, and safety practices. Digs, disconnects, repairs, and replaces water meters and lines. Changes old or non-working meters. Installs meters to new properties. Replaces broken meter boxes and meter box lids.
