Wildlife Technician at Idaho Fish and Game-Jerome in Jerome, Idaho, United States Job Description Closing Date : January 31, 2025. Primary Job Responsibilities : Technicians responsible for WMA management across the Magic Valley Region including wildlife and habitat duties. Operate various equipment including, but not limited to : 4x4 truck, ATV, tractor w / implements, chainsaw, power tools, and sprayers. Operate and maintain irrigation systems to food plots and pastures using wheel lines, handlines, gated pipe, and open ditch systems. Conduct weed control and monitor use of chemical herbicides. Build, repair, remove fences, maintain equipment, facilities, housing and grounds. Monitor wildlife population numbers, habitat use, and public use of WMA. Assist manager with other duties as assigned. Qualifications / Skills Needed : With or without assistance be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Be able to work outdoors in highly variable weather conditions. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to competently and safely operate a chainsaw, power trimmer, 4x4 truck, ATV, and tractor with implements (disk, mower, etc.). Incumbent must have a working knowledge of wildlife ecology and basic habitat requirements. Experience with herbicide applications, farm equipment, and ditch irrigation is preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively with the public. The abilities to work independently with minimal supervision and make efficient use of field time are essential requirements for this position.
